Rita Smith
Rita Louise Smith, age 85 of Pont du Marais Boarding Home, Lower West Pubnico, died peacefully on July 4th, 2024 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital after suffering a stroke. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Abraham and Julia (Perry) Sampson. She came from a large family of 12. She is survived by sons; James, Argyle, Christopher, Lockeport, Steven (Karen), Lower Argyle, a daughter; Cindy (David), Halifax, 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband James Reginald Smith. A graveside service will be held Saturday, July 13, 2024 at 10:30am in the Laurel Hill Cemetery, Pubnico. Donations in memory may be made online to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or to a charity of one’s choice. Rita enjoyed her stay at the Pont du Marais very much. The residents and the staff became her extended family. She was an avid Bingo player and she also enjoyed playing cards and other games as well at the home. Rita was known for being very competitive. She enjoyed spending quality time with all of her family and will be missed very much.
