Leonard d'Eon
Leonard Alphonse d’Eon, affectionately known as "Marais", age 102 of Roseway Manor, formerly of Lower West Pubnico died September 30, 2020 in Roseway Manor. Born in Lower West Pubnico, he was the son of the late Narcisse and Neomise (d’Entremont) Duon. He is survived by his wife, Vivian d’Eon; his children, Darcy (Clayton), Susanne, Jerome (Brenda), Erika (Drew), Kirk (Nancy), Alice (Felton); 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Annette (d’Entremont) d’Eon and his siblings, Alvinie, Emerita, Marcelline, Roland and infant brother Benoit. His working life was varied; in his youth working on the family farm and lobster fishing with his father, harvesting apples in the Annapolis Valley and working as a welder in the Pictou Shipyards after graduating from the Agricultural College of Nova Scotia in 1940. Although he was a boat builder for a few years, welding was truly his calling. He owned and operated a welding business for many years and ended his career as a welding instructor at the Burridge Regional Vocational School in Yarmouth. He was an active member of numerous community organizations, including the beautification club, la Societé historique acadienne de Pubnico-Ouest and the camera club. He spent many years in his retirement doing landscaping. He loved his family, his work and his community.
